Dick Stork:  Hooked on Smiles, Inc. was inspired by Dick Stork who dedicated his retirement years to helping the physically challenged enjoy the beauty of Florida waterways.  In 2000, he was honored by the city of Port Orange for his community achievements such as fishing aides for the disabled and the construction of the floating accessible dock.  Although Dick Stork is no longer with us, his legacy and spirit live on through the charitable efforts of his family, friends, volunteers and sponsors.

Floating Boat Dock:  In 1997, Stork decided to build a floating dock that would enable physically challenged individuals to board a boat and enjoy both sport and recreational boating.  Although it took him almost three (3) years to secure the government approvals and funding, Stork's determination and follow through efforts were relentless.  Stork designed & constructed, along with local business support, a multi-level, floating dock on the SE side of the Port Orange Bridge.  In May 2000, the floating accessible dock was completed & dedicated for public use.

Boat Rides:  Since Stork's passing in year 2000, complimentary boat rides for the disabled was our signature event.  Mark Sheets, former owner of Sunny Daze and Starry Nites Cruises, supported our efforts providing themed boat rides to people with special needs. Together, our volunteers and Mark Sheets provided free boat rides to almost 1,100 people prior to his business moving out of state in 2006.  We sincerely thank Mark and Kristine for their generous support and kindness.

Hooked on Smiles:  Because the boat rides were so enjoyable for everyone, our volunteers included, we decided to create a non-profit 501(c)3 organization in Dick Stork's memory to expand his dreams for people with special needs.  Since Hooked on Smiles, Inc. commenced in 2002, the results have far exceeded everyone's expectations for exciting events.  Our volunteers have received an outpouring of love and support from the families, friends, caregivers and generous sponsors of Hooked on Smiles.

Pyramid Disc Jockeys: Vern Shank, owner of Pyramid Disc Jockeys, has graciously supported our organization and its vision. Creating extra special memories is a skill Pyramid D.J.'s has mastered unequivocally.  Vern and his partner, Jeff, are an incredible duo.
